More Wheeler

A dog...something I never, never wanted.  He escapes...a lot.  He nibbles at our toes, eats at our legs, and pretty much drives us crazy.  He likes to do whatever we are doing, including swimming in the pool.  Caleigh and I have given up playing outside several times while swinging, drawing with chalk, and playing in the sandbox because he want stop attacking us. We should have gotten an old, lazy dog.

Another Caleigh Disaster

Again I say, how she does it I don't know.   On Sunday, we were getting ready to go to Dalton to eat lunch with my dad and granddad for Father's Day.   I was trying to get Elisha ready, and Rusty had left Caleigh in the van playing.   When he went to get her, he found that she had found my mascara.  It was all over her pretty watermelon dress, her lands, and her face.  She had attempted to put it on her eyes like Mommy does.  We got her cleaned up, and the mascara did come out of her dress, thank the Lord.

Rusty convinced me to get Caleigh a dog for her second birthday.  So, we ended up with a six week old beagle we named Wheeler.  Caleigh calls him Babu though.   Why I don't know.  I can't believe I'll be taking care of it as well.  Caleigh already loves to get on to it, and it loves trying to escape its pen and yelping in the middle of the night.

Orlando Vacation with Two Kids

Caleigh took over Cole's MiB laser gun.  My parents ended up having to buy her one.  She shot everyone at Disney World with hers, including Pooh and Tigger.

Caleigh was amazed at the Caro-Seuss-el.  She cried when I put her on it because she was scared, and she cried when it was time to get off because she wanted to do it again.

To Orlando...An hour and a half after being in the car, I thought we should turn around.  It was 11 o'clock and both kids were awake and crying.  Thankfully, we decided to head on down to Orlando for a week with my parents.  Driving through the night helped since Caleigh and Elisha slept most of the time.  We made it in nine hours when I figured it would take at least eleven or twelve.   And, it only took us eight hours to make it to Rusty's parents on the way back.  We went to Universal, and my parents took Caleigh to Disney World.   She was the last kid to see Mickey and Minnie, and when she cried as they were leaving, they sat down in the floor and let her crawl all over them giving hugs and kisses.  My mom said it brought a tear to her eye.

Almost Two Months with Elisha

Elisha really didn't like his first bottle.  Rusty gave it to him, and he cried.  He basically had to squeeze it in his mouth to get him to take it.  He is so different than Caleigh.  She guzzled her first bottle and never thought anything about it being different.

Elisha sleeping.  Yes, this does happen sometimes, and isn't it ever so sweet?  Poor Elisha, as we often refer to him, has reflux and "colic." He does more than spit. Sometimes he projects it across the room.  He also has bouts of crying, starting from the time he finishes eating until he almost passes out from exhaustion.  I have to put him in my lap and hold his head and rock him back and forth until he throws up.  The doctor said he'll grow out it and that I'm doing everything I possibly can, but that doesn't stop the advice from flowing in. Most often I hear that I need to feed him more because he spits up so much, even though I'm not suppose to feed him in less than three hours so him stomach has time to recuperate from the last feeding. He also weighed over ten pounds at his one month check-up.  I don't think he's starving.  I never really believed in, or understood, colic, but it is real, though Elisha's isn't as bad as it could be.  He is Babywised, Secrets of the Baby Whipsered, and Dunstan Baby Languaged, but none of those have helped him.  I can't imagine how bad it would be if I was not "educated."  Honestly, if he didn't have bellyaches, I would say he is much better at going to sleep than Caleigh was.  Please pray for me.  This is very trying.  Rusty just reminds me that it is for my sanctification.

Caleigh and Elisha before church

Elisha's first time in the Bumbo at seven weeks

Caleigh is still a mess.  The state of her face in this picture only represents the state of her behavior on a daily basis.  Most recently, she has colored the Bumbo, put chalk on the van, squirted diswashing detergent on her play dishes, which were on the couch, and stuck brother's diapers all over the playpen.  Yes, she is a mess.  Sometimes we just laugh.  Sometimes she gets a spanking.  And, most of the time we just wonder how she does it.

Hopefully, Elisha will survive.  Here she is putting her hand over his mouth.  She loves throwing cold rags on him and wiping his spit roughly with his burp clothes.  She has also dropped her juice on his head and hit him with a battery.  The juice was an accident, but the battery wasn't.
